Made to order

The Mitla textile is handwoven by Cocijo in San Pablo Villa de Mitla, Oaxaca, México, using 100% cotton colored with natural dyes. Traditionally worn by women as a ceremonial enredo, its woven symbols carry ideas of life, abundance, and the cultural memory of Mitla.

This long, open-front kimono was designed to showcase the textile in its full expression. Wide, short sleeves and contrast trim selected to complement each colorway frame the weave, keeping its pattern, texture, and craftsmanship at the center of the piece.

A transitional garment designed to be worn across seasons, it can be layered over dresses, denim, simple separates, or swimwear. This is art you can wear, made to carry the textile and its meaning into everyday life.

The finishing detail, known as malla, is a delicate technique traditionally used in the rebozos woven in the community. Here, it forms the openwork and fringe along the lower edge, adding movement while honoring knowledge carried forward through generations.

Made to order and entirely handmade, each Kimono Mitla is individually composed from handwoven cotton textile. Natural variations in the weave, color, malla, and handwork mean the finished garment may differ slightly from the images shown. These distinctions are part of its character and reflect the hands that created it.

Choose your preferred textile color. Each textile is paired with a coordinating contrast trim carefully selected by the studio as part of the design. Trim color is not separately customizable.
